Purpose

This metadata enables Lucidity Assessment to identify storage inefficiencies, unused capacity, and right-sizing opportunities — helping reduce cloud costs without accessing sensitive information or affecting workloads.

Metadata Collected during the Assessment

To calculate accurate cost-saving opportunities, the assessment collects infrastructure-level metadata only. Lucidity does not access or inspect customer data, applications, files, or traffic. The tool gathers only infrastructure and disk-level metadata, grouped as follows:

  • VM Identification

    vm_id, vm_name, instance_id, instance_type, vm_type, vm_category, vm_state, is_vmss

  • OS & Platform Details

    os_type, os_sku, os_offer, derived_os

  • Cloud & Subscription Context

    tenantId, AccountId, project, subscription_id, subscription_name, resource_group, instance_region, disk_region

  • Disk Configuration & Utilization

    disk_id, disk_name, disk_type, disk_size, data_size, partition_size, available_free_size, disk_state

  • Performance Characteristics

    disk_iops, disk_max_throughput

  • VM Capacity & Attachment Details

    no_of_disks_attached (OS + DATA), max_number_of_data_disks, available_data_Slots, mount_point

  • Operational Metadata
