Linux VM Restore Using Backup and DR service

Environment Setup

  1. A Linux VM named backup-linux-1-gcpwas created.

  2. Dummy data was written to the mount point:/mnt/disks/data. This mount point was configured in Lucidity AutoScaler.

 

 


Backup Configuration

A scheduled backup plan was created with:

  • Backup vault

  • Backup rules

  • Retention policy of 2 days

Restore Process

The VM was restored from the scheduled backup and named as linux-restore-scheduled-backup

Result

The restored VM linux-restore-scheduled-backup

  • Retained the Lucidity agent

  • Preserved disk configuration

  • Maintained VM metadata and tags

The instance appeared successfully in the Lucidity dashboard. Kindly connect with Lucidity support team to help with the onboarding of the restored VM.

Linux VM Restore Using Machine Images

Environment Setup

  1. A Linux VM named backup-linux-2-gcpwas created and onboarded to Lucidity.

  2. Dummy data was written to /mnt/disks/data

  3. A machine image named linux-vm-image was created.

  1. A new VM named restored-linux-vm-imagewas restored from the machine image.

Result

The restored VM restored-linux-vm-image retained:

  • Lucidity agent

  • Disk configuration

  • Metadata and tags

The VM appeared successfully in the Lucidity dashboard. Kindly connect with Lucidity support team to help with the onboarding of the restored VM.
